We’re proud to have Damian Meredith return to Esoteric as one of our choreographers for the opening ceremony.

Damian is a passionate contemporary dance artist, choreographer, and teacher, with an aptitude for music and sound design.

Damian started training at age 3, in styles of Tap, Jazz, Ballet and Drama, and continued to picked up contemporary, acro and hip hop from age 8.

He then got accepted into the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School, where he trained until year 10, and went on with the National Institute of Circus Arts in year 11 and 12.

During high school, Damian performed professionally in Graeme Murphy’s version of “The Nut Cracker” with the Australian Ballet Company as a child ensemble, and also Baz Lurman’s “A Mid Summer Nights Dream” with Opera Australia as a Dancer/Tumbler.

Finishing high school, Damian got involved in performing amongst the music festival scene, including Earthcore, Esoteric Festival, and Strawberry Fields Festival, where he now manages the performance art program.

In 2016, Transit Dance took Damian as a second year contemporary student. The same year, he performed in the remount of Transit Dance Company’s “Yours Truly”. In the same year, he founded Movement Décor, his choreographic project, putting on performance-works extensively through the music scene as well as Melbourne Fringe Festival.

Since then he has been working as a freelance dance artist and teacher, performing in Matthew Bourne’s “Lord Of The Flies” at the Melbourne Arts Centre, and with Shaun Parker & Company on their international tour of productions “Happy As Larry” and “King”.

As of recent, Damian performed with Melbourne’s flagship contemporary dance company Chunky Move working with newly appointed artistic director Antony Hamilton on “Token Armies”.
