Australia

Lifestyle Space: Amphitheatre

Workshop Type: Lecture

Topic: Mycology Basics: Tips & Tricks to Growing Mushrooms

Presenter: Daniel L

BIO:
Danny grew up spending most of his summers on his grandparent’s farm in Middle America and he has always had a passion for growing/raising plants and animals. Instead of following in his forefather’s footsteps, he ventured out in to the world to discover his passion. Danny has been a mortician, professional cheerleader for the NBA and then became a corporate drone spanning several different industries, specializing in operational efficiency/optimization. Danny discovered Mycology late in the pandemic years where he was able to combine his love of growing his own food along with his love of operational efficiency, all while living in a high-rise apartment and frequently traveling for work.

Anyone can enjoy the rewarding hobby of Mycology, and Danny is excited to make this challenging hobby more accessible by dispelling myths and sharing learnings from over the years.

SYNOPSIS:
A follow up to last year’s session where I walked through the detailed steps of the basics to start growing your own mushrooms. In this second iteration, I will be reviewing tips/tricks to get started, how/when to upgrade your operation, how to mitigate and deal with contamination (which will happen…. a lot).
My goal with this workshop is to make you feel comfortable with getting started and share common mistakes I have made (which are a lot) so you don’t have to. All those in attendance will also get my step by step guide and shopping list (with links) that I shared in my 2024 workshop, so you can give the wonderful hobby of Mycology a go after the festival!
