SYNOPSIS:
The workshop follows a ritual framework and involves identifying and speaking for an other-than-human life form. It includes an imaginary journey to meet the beneficiary of one’s offerings, the creation of a representational facial/head-dress, the empathetic channeling of the chosen beings’ experience through movement and an opportunity to communicate its message to the group and the greater world. In the words of the originator Joanna Macey, ‘The ritual serves to help us acknowledge and give voice to the suffering of our world. It also serves, in equal measure, to help us experience the beauty and power of our interconnectedness with all life.
